On 23rd May 2000, Banque Nationale de Paris and Paribas merged together to form the BNP Paribas. Today it is considered as one of the most prominent banks in France and greater Europe. BNP Paribas is also considered as one of the three oldest banks in France. Established in 1966 this bank was privatized as late as 1993. more than anything else BNP Paribas is known for being the only bank which used its escrow account to maintain all the revenue collected from the Oil for Food program at Iraq. The total number of employees at BNP Paribas is expected to be around 140,000 out of which nearly 80,00 are employed in the European domain of BNP Paribas . The head office of BNP Paribas is at France where the bank is a topper as far as retail banking is considered.
